Feeling Good In Your Own Skin

Updated: Jul 24, 2020

First and foremost it is important to have a good skincare regime. This is your canvass that is primed before you apply your make up. It always feels good to have revitalized skin making you feel energized. I won't get into product details but to touch on the topic lightly. You should have a morning regime and evening regime. It depends on your schedule as well; whether you can add more specific treatments that need more time with applications. If you haven't ever tried some things as part of a routine; see if some ideas may work for you.

Morning: cleanse, tone, moisturize, day cream, eye cream

1) cleanse - always make sure to check which cleanser is good for your skin type ie. dry, normal, oily skins

*check for some cleansers that are make-up removers or for use without make-up

2) Tone - what skin type is if for? alcohol-free is usually advisable for dry skin types. Toners invigorate and make the applications of face creams work effectively helping glide on and absorb better into the skin.

3) Day cream - there are hydrating creams, nourishing creams, anti-aging, firming, and creams with an s.p.f factor (to protect against sun rays)

4) Eye creams - gel-based eye creams (usually to reduce puffiness), moisturizing cream-based (for more dryer skin around the eyes) and usually firming

Evening: Repeat the same steps as above.

Some things to consider:

1) cleansers - if you are washing your face in the morning you don't have to use a make-up remover cleanser. You can use a mild/gentle cleanser. For dry skins, it's usually a milk/lotion type cleanser. Usually, in the evening you may have make-up on so make sure to use a cleanser that removes the make-up thoroughly.

2) Face cream - preferably choose a day cream with sunscreen, protective and anti-aging properties. Usually, the night creams are a bit richer providing nourishment with anti-aging properties.

These are really some of the basic things about using a skincare regime. I believe it is important to keep up with a regime that is designed for your personal specific needs.

Each company will offer different properties/ingredients made for each skin type. As well, they each have different methods on application/layering systems that are unique for each skincare line. These specifics become more detailed so having a breakdown on your skin type; your needs and wants for your regime is important. Consider the climate /weather conditions you live in; these will also be a factor is what type of products you will need. Skincare is essential when it comes to applying your make-up and keeping your skin hydrated/nourished. Regular maintenance is part of an important step.

See below for some ideas on the kinds of cleansers for different skin types. Again, these are just some examples of the many different specific skincare needs.
